Installed in Quebec since 2008, Edmond Sadio was born in Dakar, Senegal 🇸🇳. It was during his early childhood that his passion for cooking was born thanks to his mother who passed on her love for feeding people. A passion that will follow him all his life and which will push him to open Diolo, a catering restaurant specializing in authentic Senegalese cuisine and other African flavors.
A true source of inspiration for him, his mother introduced him very early on to the secrets of fine Senegalese cuisine. She will pass on her know-how, carefully kept from generation to generation. Despite this culinary love, nothing could predict such a journey for chef Edmond. Rather, he saw himself as a career in transportation engineering. But his arrival in Canada will change everything.
Far from his native Senegal, nostalgia won him over and the flavors of the country began to miss him. He then cooks first for himself, then for friends. With the magic of word of mouth, his cooking skills are causing a stir in the Senegalese community, happy to find in his dishes memories of the country. Faced with this enthusiasm, Edmond decided to open his first restaurant in 2014, Diolo Traiteur, an abbreviation of Djolof, the former Senegalese empire.
“I love to cook for people. I've always liked it. What I love most is watching their emotions when they taste a dish that I have prepared, their smiles on their faces. " he confided in an interview with the C’est Moi le Chef workshop.
