Aysha is a poignant narrative centered around a 12-year-old girl from a small village in Senegal. Every day, Aysha embarks on an 8-mile journey through the woods to reach her school, accompanied by two friends who share her determination. Despite her illiterate parents’ limited understanding of education, they encourage Aysha to learn reading and writing to assist with the family’s agricultural endeavors. Before dawn, Aysha’s day begins with household chores, tending to animals, and preparing for her long trek to school. Amidst these responsibilities, Aysha harbors a dream to become a lawyer, a vision that faces opposition from the very pillars of support she expects at home.
